Oaks vs North Dorset 21/10/07
After hard work by the forwards Matt Ward scored the 1st try in the corner, Tommy Keir being unlucky with the conversion when it hit the crossbar. After this North Dorset came back into the game and with the boys missing their first up tackles, equalised with a try. From a scrum on North Dorset's 22, quick hands from the back row and Joe Bradford resulted in Matt Ward scoring his and the teams second. Tommy missed the conversion. We were now on top and a delicate chip through by Tommy resulted in Jason Deverill chasing through to score a try close to the posts, which Tommy converted. Half time came with us leading 17-5.
After oranges the teams turned round and we were once again on top but no points came from the pressure. North Dorset came back once again but from a break out Tommy's crossfield kick fell nicely for Craig Wright to score the teams fourth try. Once again the boys intensisty dropped off in the last 10 minutes and although North Dorset were encamped in our 22 stout defence from all of the players resulted in them not scoring. The final score was 22-5 to us.
Player of the match as chosen by North Dorset's Coach was Craig Wright in the backs and Mike Barrett in the forwards. The tackle of the day as chosen by Jack Hennings (totty No3) was Tommy Keir, who demolished North Dorset's No14. How was the onion Tom?
Another great team effort by we must remember the game is now 60 mins and not 50!!!!
