County Cup Semi-Final

On Sunday the U15's travelled to Sherbourne to play their biggest match to date
- the Semi-Final of the County Cup. With injuries and unavailabilities the
squad numbered 17, with two of those players returning from injury/illness.

The boys were up for it right from the warm-up and the mood was confident in the
changing room.

Sherbourne kicked off with the elements in their favour. They battered our boys
and became encamped in our 22, but through sheer hardwork there was no way
through and at half time the score was 0-0.

Twiz did not need to give a half time talk as the team remained focused on the
job in hand (I don't know what he did say though because Nicola was close to
tears when she came back from taking the boys their oranges).

The second half was as intense as the first and we had a number of attacks that
were stopped by good tackling from the Sherbourne boys.

With 10 minutes to go and a draw looking promising, Sherbourne had an attack
down our left flank which resulted in them going over in the corner. The
conversion was missed so it was 5-0 to Sherbourne. The boys did not give in and
came back at Sherbourne but to no avail as Sherbourne's defense held firm.

The final result was 5-0 to Sherbourne, who we wish well in the final.

All of the boys did the Club and the Shirt proud, they all tackled like trojans
and never gave up at anytime and the looks on their faces at the end showed how
much they wanted this game.

With the above in mind the parents considered that all the squad should be man
of the match, however as normal the opposition coach was asked to choose and he
gave them to Craig in the backs and Andy in the forwards.

The tackle of the match was harder to choose, but after deliberation by Twiz and
Adie it was given to Alex Shearsmith for his late tackle on the Sherbourne
centre.

The cup trail is over for another season but if the boys maintain this level of
intensity the parents have got some good rugby to look forward to for the
remainder of the season.

A little note on behalf of the mums who were watching today.

Well done to our boys, you made us mums really proud of all of you today, all of your hard training has paid off. Shame about Twiz'z hair though!
