Swanage and Wareham vs Oaks 5/2/08
04/02/08 12:30
On Sunday
the U15's travelled to windy Swanage and Wareham.
We kicked off and when Swans ran back at us the mood of the game was established when Rocky II reared its head again. From this moment onwards there was a simmering undercurrent between the teams.
Lack of tackling led to Swans opening the scoring with the conversion being missed. The boys came back at them and some deft direct running by Jason led to him splitting the Swans defence to score and excellent individual try. Tommy stepped to the plate and slotted over the conversion, we led 5-7. Swanage came back at us and although Matt corner flagged and tackled the Swans player, he managed to place the ball down before going into touch. Half time came with the score 10-7.
After a half time talk from the referee about discipline the second half started and although both teams played hard rugby Swans played the conditions well with kicking to the corners. On many occasions they were encamped on our five metre line but the boys stout defence once again held them at bay. Swans went over to score three tries one converted and the game ended with us the losers 27-7.
Another hard good game with the wrong result we must remember to focus on the game and not to lose sight of where we want to go.
Men of the match as chosen by the opposition coaches were Jason in the backs and Matt in the forwards. Tackle of the game was once again Michael.
UPDATE : Alex Shearsmith went to hospital with a bad shoulder but thankfully it is only badly bruised and he hopefully will be back next week for the Lychett game.
