Oaks Acorns u15s have a squad of about 24,
who have been together for the last 3 seasons.
Training is on a wednesday evening at Meyrick park from
6.30pm until 8.30pm, and Sundays from 9.30am until 12.00
with home and away matches also played on Sundays.
We have a great network of
parents who help run the squad, from donating 1st aid kit,
and man of the match medals, through to helping in the
kitchen and ferrying the players to and from matches, as
well as standing in the cold and wet to support all the
players at training and on match days! We hold regular
parent/players meetings to discuss how the squad is doing,
planning the next tour, arranging paintballing for the kids
and even the next parents night out.
Our head coach is Andy Barrett (twiz) who eats and
sleeps rugby, and assistant coaches Adie Ward who is also a
referee, and Mike Garrett, who plays for Oaks senior squad.
We hold specialist training sessions when the seniors will
help with scrum machine or backs training.
Last season we took the players on tour to Somerset where
we played a couple of great matches and had some good team
fun.!! (What goes on tour stays on tour.) This year we are
planning a tour to Devon.
