Oakmeadians Old Gits were formed by an Old Oakmeadian who wanted to turn the years back. Knowing the physical condition he was in precluded him from playing the full contact game. He asked a few fellow 'Gitters' if they would like to have a run around and play a game of touch on a reduced pitch, and that started one of Oaks Old Rugger Bugger section.
Every Monday  throughout the year excluding Xmas you will see from 7.15pm between 15 and 30 'Gitters' having a good warm up, an hours quality game of touch, warm down, shower then a must have drink and a chat at the Club Bar, ending around 9.30pm.

The important aspect of this  evening in the Oakmeadians Calendar is FUN, there are no medals, but good sportsmanship and comradeship, and at the same time keeping fit. The Gitters are mostly made up of men, but there is no reason why Ladies should not take part.
Touring is also an important aspect of Oaks Old Gits - They spread the word  - Touch rugby can be played by every age group not just by the young. For the past two years they have undertaken Tours in France, as well as several Tournaments. This September 37 Oakmeadians 'Gitters' watched the World Cup live somewhere in deepest France alongside playing against one or  two French Teams.
