The Colts
currently play in the Dorset and Wilts Merit Table Division
2.
We would welcome any new players at any time, so if you
wish to come and join as a beginner or as an established
player then contact the Manager Paula Sheppard listed below
and then come along to a training session.
The Colts have made a promising start to the season with a
couple of friendly games that although they haven’t won the
games have been quite exciting to watch and a close score!
The two teams that have come together to form the colts are
beginning to play really well together, so a good start.
This year’s season for the colts should be quite exciting
as we have a new coaching team. The boys and the coaches
are working hard together, new positions are being tried,
fitness is being improved, so all in all a good start to
the new season.
The new coaching squad consists of Angelo Battiston coach,
Simon (Sammy) Miles assistant coach and Sean Goodall
fitness coach. We also get some extra coaching from James
Croaker and Andy (Twiz) Barrett Senior team coaches. We
will also get some coaching from Senior team players.
We are also planning a tour this season to Bridgewater
Somerset in April 09. The boys are looking forward to this
we are lining up a couple of games for the boys to play as
well as the usual things that happen on a rugby tour.
Some of the U17 Colts entered the O2 Scrum on the Beach
Tournament in the summer and won the Battle of the Beach!
Also a combined Colts team entered the RFU Beach Tag
Tournament at Branksome Chine and won the bowl. So as you
can see Rugby is great all year round and as Oakmeadians we
love to play all year round!
We as a team are looking forward to our first league match
against Bridport on the 12th October at home. The U17 Colts
are also entering the Dorset & Wilts RFU Knock Out
Competition the first match for this is 2nd November. So we
wish the boys good luck in that.
