TAG RUGBY
For: Parents / New Coaches / Teachers of Tag-Rugby
Assessment: Certificate of Attendance

Description: The Tag-Rugby Coaching course is designed to help you begin your rugby coaching within the non-contact version of the sport. Tag-Rugby is a 2 ½ to 3 hour practically-based course and will help you move on to the Start Rugby course or Level 1 Coaching qualification. By attending a Tag-Rugby course, you will learn how to deliver elements of the warm-up, handling and small sided games specific to the Tag game. The course is accompanied by a coaching pack and CD/DVD of practices for Tag-Rugby. Contact your local Community Rugby Coach or RDO to run a course at your club or school.

START RUGBY
For: Parents / New Coaches / Teachers of contact rugby
Assessment: Certificate of Attendance

Description: The Start Rugby Coaching course is designed to help you begin your rugby coaching and give others the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the sport. Start Rugby is a 2 ½ to 3 hour practically-based course and will help you move on to the Level 1 Coaching qualification that will further develop your coaching skills and knowledge. By attending a Start Rugby course, you will learn how to deliver elements of the warm-up, handling and contact skills, small sided games and basic coaching processes. The course is accompanied by a pack of laminated coaching cards that easily fit into a coach’s pocket. Contact your local Community Rugby Coach or RDO to run a course at your club or school.

LEVEL 1
Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union
For:
Parents / New Coaches / Teachers. Candidates are required to be 16 years of age or over before they can be registered for the qualification. It is recommended that coaches new to the game of rugby will have attended either a Start or Tag-Rugby Course before attending a Level 1.
Assessment: Competency based allowing you to be continually assessed throughout the course. There is also an open book multi choice test.

Description: The Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union has been developed in conjunction with the Scottish & Welsh Rugby Unions, together with 1st4sport Qualifications. It is a vocationally related qualification studying both practical and theoretical aspects of coaching rugby union. The course operates either as a two day course or an induction evening followed by two (shorter) days. The course is primarily practical based, and you will be given several opportunities to coach and develop your coaching throughout the course.

BEYOND L1
Beyond Level 1
For: Coaches who have already completed a Level 1 Rugby Union Coaching Course wishing to continue their development.
Assessment: Certificate of Attendance.

Description: 6 unit topics - Continuity, Attack, Defence, Lineout, Back Play, General

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Rugby Union
For: Candidates of 18 years of age or over. Candidates should have normally attended a Level 1 Rugby Union Coaching Course, and should demonstrate an involvement with the coaching / teaching of rugby and attendance at coaching seminars, courses or conferences.
Assessment: Competency based allowing you to be continually assessed & receive support & action planning throughout the course. Candidates should also fulfil the home-study tasks. There is also an open book multi choice test.

It is a vocationally related qualification studying both practical and theoretical aspects of coaching rugby union. The course operates either as a four day course. The course is primarily practical based, and you will be given several opportunities to coach and develop your coaching throughout the course. There are also home study tasks including the planning, delivery and review of coaching sessions.

CLRA
Community Leaders Rugby Awards
For: Community Sports Leaders / JSLA
Assessment: Competency Based & Certificate

Description: The RFU Community Leaders Award can be used as a bolt-on to CSLA courses or as a stand alone rugby leaders course. The course is competence based and includes modules on coaching, refereeing, child protection, community delivery and leadership ethos. The taught element is five hours in duration, during which students prepare for their own two hour community delivery. Contact your local Community Rugby Coach or RDO to run a course at your club or school.

OTHER
Coaching Contact / Tackle Safety / Front Row & Scrum Courses
For: All coaches interested
Assessment: Certificate of Attendance

Description: We can organise short courses covering coaching contact, tackle safety and scrummaging locally. Please contact your local RDO or CDO to arrange a course at your club or school. Minimum group of 12 coaches, costs £5 per person.
