Oaks Acorns
have a squad of about 30 Under 6’s and 7’s plus another 30
in the Under 8’s. Training is on a Sunday morning at
Meyrick Park near the golf club car park from 10.00am until
12.00 noon.
We play/train every Sunday with home and away matches
played against local sides, including Swanage &
Wareham, Dorchester, Blandford, Bridport and Weymouth
amongst others. We have also been known to entertain Welsh
touring sides during half term. We have a great team of
managers, assistants and coaching staff who make sure every
thing runs smoothly throughout the season. We also have a
great network of parents who help run the squads, from
sponsoring kit, providing first aid cover, arranging
tournaments/parties and helping in the clubhouse/kitchen as
required, as well as standing in the cold and wet to
support all the players at training and on match
days!
Our head coach is Gary for the Under 8’s and Kieren for the Under 7’s. Between them, they have many years experience coaching the young acorns and have recently led the U8 team out on the hallowed turf at Twickenham in front of a 40 thousand crowd during this season’s London Double Header. Last season we took the players and parents to a tag tournament at Reading and then onto the Saint Patrick’s Day Party at our local Guinness Premiership Side, London Irish. If you would like to join our squad or just want to come and have a look, you will find us at Meyrick Park on most Sundays during the season.
