The Dolphin Centre Rowathon
22/01/09 10:25

The Dolphin Shopping Centre Rowathon took place as organised and it was not long after setting everything up that we saw a steady flow of participants, we also saw parents and the general public giving the rowing machine a full work out.
Many thanks Niki Scattergood who run the whole show and to the following girls who took part: Lizzie, Rachel S, Abigail, Bex, Vicky S, Jess B, Chantelle, Sally, Amy, Jess G, Emily, Kat, Charlie, Gemma, Nat, Amiee and Emma.
Grateful thanks to Skev who was kind enough to loan us a Gazebo for the event which set the scene for the day and kept both the participants and general public at arms length of each other. At this time we are unable to confirm the total amount raised, a quick calculation of known amounts comes too, £825.30, I am hoping this will exceed £1,000 when all monies are collected.
Girls the hard work begins NOW, so for the sake of the Easter Tour finances, lets start collecting all the sponsorship money and get it in as soon as possible. I would also like to congratulate Charlie Parvin who rowed the furthest distance in the ten minutes period (3.6mtrs) Well done to all who took part and thank you.
Back Packing Success - £500.33
16/01/09 20:13
As
arranged the bag packing fund raising event took place at
Sainsburys Talbot Heath on 10th January between 10.00 and 16.00 and
was a roaring success.
The day began by setting up all the equipment and promotional boards and despite the extremely cold weather there was a steady flow of girls from the youth section who made the day a very worthwhile exercise.
Collection buckets were placed in the foyer, which were overlooked by Gordon Horsley for most of the day and a big thank to Gordon for braving the artic winds, Leah Tarrant also assisted and took her turn both inside and out of the store, along with Niki Scattergood.
We had fourteen of the thirty tills covered with collection bins and packers with all proceeds going towards either replacement training equipment. or used to assist the girls in paying for their Easter Tour fees.
I would like to extend our grateful thanks and appreciation to Miss. Sam Dwyer, (Sainsburys Talbot Heath Charities Co-ordinator), whom without her assistance the event would never have run, I would also like to thank the marvelous staff who supported our girls throughout the day and looked after all of us, they are a credit to Sainsburys.
I am very pleased to announce the fund raising grand total of this event comes to: £500.33
A massive thank you to the following girls who attended and work so hard:
Rachael A, Sally, Chantelle, Roz, Viv, Shannon, Emily, Carys, Amy, Rachel S, Nat, Lizzie, Charlie, Lauren, Abigail, Victoria, Nikita, Gemma, Emma, Kelly, Vicky, Kat, .
Kelly and Vicky have not yet attended a training session or played a match, welcome to Oakmeadians girls section and thank you for your commitment to this event, you are an example to others and a credit to yourselves..
The feedback we have had from Sainsburys has been great, they are very pleased at the way you all took to this event and commented on how polite and well behaved you were, well done girls you are a massive credit to our club.

This event will run from approx. 10.00am onwards and we will need as many willing volunteers as possible in order to allocate time slots for your attendance, all girls supporting this event for approx. two hours depending on numbers.“remember”
The more you raise the less you pay for your place on the Easter 2009 tour.

Bag Packing Fund Raising Event
08/12/08 18:49

We are looking to arrange a Bag Packing Fund Raising Event within one of the local supermarkets, letters have been sent out to all contacts and we are awaiting the green light in order to move this forward but we need commitment from you.
What we need from you is confirmation that you would be willing to take part in this event and anyone interested should make your team manager aware of your desire to take part, or contact Tom or Niki Scattergood 01202 380567
We will be looking for bag packers and people who would be willing to stand within the supermarket grounds / buildings with collection buckets, (so there is no excuse not to take part simply because you don’t like packing bags)
On the day (to be arranged) we will be looking at all participants to be dressed in team playing shirts and track suit bottoms, this is for identification and for security reasons within the store, also to highlight and raise the profile of the girls youth section within our club.
