Plymouth Albion vs Oakmeadians U18s Girls
17/10/09 20:22
PLYMOUTH ALBION U18 GIRLS 0 OAKMEADIANS U18 GIRLS 17
Despite some injuries and unavailability of players we were able to field a full side plus 8 substitutes for the long trip to Plymouth Albion where the girls had the luxury of playing on their 1st team pitch.
Oaks started slowly still feeling the effects of the long journey and with both sides managing to keep the pressure on for concerted periods with only some good tackling from Plymouths back row stopping the Oaks forwards from breaking through, when the ball came out to the backs Oaks looked a threat with the pace on the wings and full back joining the line but again good defense from the Plymouth backs preventing any score.
After a period of pressure the first score went to Oaks when good pressure in defense in the Plymouth half from the Oaks players forced a dropped pass in Plymouths 22, Sophie Bishop took advantage of this to go over in the corner for a half time score 0 - 5
The second half was more of the same with a very even contest but as the game went on Oaks began to have increased possession of the ball putting more concerted attacks together which Plymouth defended well against. The second try came from good pressure in defense from the forwards resulting in Oaks increasing the score through Sally Dimmer which was unconverted to take the score to 0-10. Oaks continued to put the pressure on which eventually led to a third try scored and converted by Chantelle McClure. Both sides played their part in a very entertaining open game of rugby with some very good defense and tackling from both sides. Choosing the player of the match was very difficult due to every player having played their part in a deserved victory and after much deliberation the player of the match was given to Kiriko Lose.
