Plymouth Albion vs Oakmeadians U15s Girls

PLYMOUTH ALBION U15 GIRLS 27 OAKMEADIANS U15 GIRLS 12
The Conditions were wet and playing on Plymouth Albion’s 1st Team Pitch both sides all played their part in what was an entertaining open game with some excellent running rugby, and solid tackling.
Plymouth were the first side to make a break through when one of their players broke through a couple of tackles to touch down. It was not long though before Oaks fought back, and took the lead with a converted try scored by Sammy Clover running ¾ of the length of the pitch evading tackles before touching down under the post this was then converted by Jamie-Lee White. Oaks then went down to 9 players with Rachel Scattergood picking up an injury. The Plymouth girls came back strongly using their bigger forwards to take the ball forward with good effect resulting in them regaining the lead with a converted. The home side scored a third try to extend their lead at half time to17 v 7.
Not long into the second half Rachel Scattergood returned to the game having recovered from her injury in the first half. The second half was end to end with Plymouth adding a further 2 tries, separated by a try scored from good driving forward play from Oaks with both Amy Rawlings and Kayleigh Wright having hands on the ball when the ball was touched down it was agreed to award the try to Kayleigh. With both sides having several probing attacks, there was some excellent tackling from the Oaks girls who kept on playing never giving up and always believing they could get back into the game and if not for some good tackles made by Plymouths girls then the scores could have been closer.
It was another good display with all the players playing their part in a very good performance. Player of the Match was awarded to Sammy Clover.

Despite some injuries and unavailability of players we were able to field a full side plus 8 substitutes for the long trip to Plymouth Albion where the girls had the luxury of playing on their 1st team pitch.
Oaks started slowly still feeling the effects of the long journey and with both sides managing to keep the pressure on for concerted periods with only some good tackling from Plymouths back row stopping the Oaks forwards from breaking through, when the ball came out to the backs Oaks looked a threat with the pace on the wings and full back joining the line but again good defense from the Plymouth backs preventing any score.
After a period of pressure the first score went to Oaks when good pressure in defense in the Plymouth half from the Oaks players forced a dropped pass in Plymouths 22, Sophie Bishop took advantage of this to go over in the corner for a half time score 0 - 5
The second half was more of the same with a very even contest but as the game went on Oaks began to have increased possession of the ball putting more concerted attacks together which Plymouth defended well against. The second try came from good pressure in defense from the forwards resulting in Oaks increasing the score through Sally Dimmer which was unconverted to take the score to 0-10. Oaks continued to put the pressure on which eventually led to a third try scored and converted by Chantelle McClure. Both sides played their part in a very entertaining open game of rugby with some very good defense and tackling from both sides. Choosing the player of the match was very difficult due to every player having played their part in a deserved victory and after much deliberation the player of the match was given to Kiriko Lose.
Final score 0 - 17
