GIRLS RUGBY
Training takes place at Meyrick Park in Bournemouth from September untill May and from July to August we do summer training, directions can be found here.
For training you will need to wear shorts or tracksuit bottoms (or both if cold!), t-shirt and sweat shirt or rugby shirt (training shirts are issued once registered), rugby boots (although football/ hockey boots or trainers are fine until you decide if you like rugby) and a gum shield (again, don’t worry about this if you are new to rugby, we can talk to you about this at your first training session).
Membership to Oakmeadians RFC is £55 per year for U13s and U15s and £60 for U18s although your first 2 weeks are free whilst you decide if rugby is the sport for you.
When do we play matches?
At Oakmeadians we believe in allowing the girls to learn how to play the game in a safe environment whilst being coached by qualified coaches who all have enhanced CRB checks. Our intention is to simply allow the girls to learn the game and enjoy playing the game. This they seem to be doing with great enthusiasm!
Can Parents Help?
The girls’ parents have been fantastic with their support with transport to and from matches, on the touchline supporting the girls, as coaches and in the kitchen and serving behind the bar. Without this support the girls section would not have grown into the success it is. If you feel you would like to volunteer to help then please speak to the Team Managers.
If anyone has any suggestions with regards to fund-raising or sponsorship for the girls’ squads please speak to the Team Managers.
If you would like to give rugby a try then please come along to the training sessions on the days and times listed above.
PLAYERS OF ALL ABILITIES ARE WELCOME
If you have any further questions please contact either the U15 or U18 Team Managers
