MATCH REPORT COLTS 22.11.09
North Dorset 0 v Oakmeadians 22
Oaks were honoured that N Dorset fulfilled their fixture following the untimely death of 1st team captain Max Biles. Oaks lined up alongside both N Dorset colts sides and their other visitors Sherborne for 1 minutes silence in his memory.
Despite some of the worst weather of the season Oaks maintained their 100% league record. After the initial scrum the referee decided that all scrums go uncontested. Once again Peter Davies opened the score from the uncontested scrum running a simple try through midfield. 0 – 5 converted by Peter Crompton 0 – 7. Ryan Teggin scored both sides of the break 0 - 17 The uncontested scrums took their toll on Oaks concentration during the 2nd half. Nevertheless they did manage to restore some pace in the final 10 mins allowing Alex Shearsmith to walk over the final try of the game.

Dorchester 3 v Oakmeadians 14
With Dorchester conceding the U17s cup it was mutually agreed that we play a 4 ¼ training match.
Oaks winning the toss kicked off the game was played evenly until the introduction of Ryan Teggin (the scoring machine) in the 2nd ¼ who outpaced 4 covering defenders to race in from 80 metres to score. 0-5 Converted by Tom keir 0-7. Again the game was balanced until an indiscretion by Oaks in front of their own posts outside the 22 allowed Dorchester convert a penalty 3-7. Dorchester kicked off the 3rd ¼ with good work from Oaks forwards and backs with counter attacking, fraught with desperate defence from Dorchester. Oakmeadians ill discipline in all areas allowed Dorchester to much ball and only desperate defence stopped a try from Dorchester with it being held up over the line. The final ¼ saw Oaks counter attack when Dorchester conceded a penalty just inside their own half. An attack penalty resulted in good play from backs and sublime hands from Sam (dede) Davies putting Hamish Wilson in the corner on his colts debut. 3-12. Duly converted by Tom Keir

Oaksmeadians 15 v New Milton 10
On a dry autumn day Oaks put away their second league win of the season in a hard fought encounter against a strong New Milton pack. Oaks scored first with a fantastic break away try by Ryan Teggin, with Pete Crompton narrowly missing the conversion 5-0. New Milton replied, eventually overcoming some very brave defence on the part of our colts 5-7. After coming on as a blood sub Aaron Garrett re-established the Oaks lead, burrowing his way over the line after a quick tap penalty 10-5.
In the evenly fought contest New Milton again replied after the interval with a try in the corner
10-10.
It was’nt until deep into the second half that Garrett scored again to secure the match after a bulldozing run by him & Tom Hough 15-10. Throughout the match all the players reflected the excellent coaching they receive with good passing, technical kicking & ferocious tackling. A fiery encounter which produced 3 yellow cards. Final score 15-10

Oaks went close several more times with Charlie Davis and Stuart Bullard unable to score. Final score 5 – 15.

For our 1st pre season match of 4 ¼ s the squad blended well soaking up pressure in the 1st ¼ to turn around 5-0 up. Further good inter play from the squad allowed us another try in the 3rd ¼. 2 penalty kicks in the 4th ¼ left us full time 16 – 0. After much intimidation and pressure an all round good performance.
There is room for improvement from the whole squad, stay focussed and don’t be intimidated.
